I'm going to preface this, or excuse it rather, by saying that I drank a bit of beer tonight and am not running on a sober mentality.

I am obliged to comment on this one for obvious reasons. Smoking, and the arguments against it, are unusual. With the plea of death in the hands of those against smoking, smokers have no supreme counter-argument. Yet they -- or we, perhaps -- still smoke. Why?
Smoking is the choice to kill yourself slowly, to commit suicide as a side effect of indulgence. Yet, as a smoker, the threat of death barely stings.
I shouldn't say that. Smoking hurts the way I view myself. My "self-importance," to use the terms of last night. When you are willing to damage your own body -- all you have -- your entire state of mind becomes screwey. And that, to me, is the worst part of smoking: I am willing to hurt myself, and such a descructive mentality seeps into all aspects of my existence. It is terrible.
